Recommended vehicle: Any sedan in good condition will do. The road is paved but winding. An SUV is more comfortable but not essential.
Tip: Leave early in the morning to avoid fog at the pass. In winter (December–March), check conditions: the pass can be snow-covered.
2. Dadès Valley and Todgha Gorges

Follow the Atlantic from north to south, traversing Morocco's diversity.
Suggested itinerary:
- Tangier → Asilah (40 km): art town, white-and-blue medina
- Asilah → Rabat (200 km): administrative capital, Oudayas Kasbah
- Rabat → El Jadida (200 km): Portuguese citadel, remarkable cistern
- El Jadida → Essaouira (300 km): city of trade winds, ramparts, fishing port
